Every once in a while, I'll get so inspired by someone else's artwork, I'll have to do a version of it. The same as a musician covering a song, I suppose. This is what happened when I saw Kitson's Irredeemeble cover.
So much despair in one image.
It got me thinking about the nature of despair. How the nagging questions that often accompany despair had turned from "why?" to "how many times...?" as I aged.
As I got older, despair seemed to inspire a feeling of déjà vu.
It made me wonder what Waid's fallen hero reflected on while in that throne with blood soaked hands.
So I decided to paint a hero's great failure. Sitting defeated in a wreckage he failed to prevent. Perhaps thousands died while he was busy stopping a bank robbery or other well meaning, though somewhat less heroic task. What would that look like?>
well, this is what I came up with.
I started it yesterday but had to put it aside for other work. I thought maybe I could get around to finishing it today some how and I would post it here. But since I didn't, I'll just post what I've got so far.
the first image is the aforementioned " Kitson's Irredeemeble cover."
